Coverage is provided for durable medical equipment under Medicare Part B. However, some conditions must be met before this coverage kicks in. Also, there are some out-of-pocket costs you have to cover if Medicare pays for your hospital bed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR_YFw4HUSWwbsz2sEHoN8AFILMmpHxFVOpOQ&amp;usqp=CAU\" alt=\"Shortage of hospital beds makes coronavirus MORE deadly \u2013 NHS is among  worst in EU\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Medicare will only pay for a hospital bed purchase or rental for home use if:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>You are enrolled in Medicare Part B&nbsp;<\/li><li>The bed is part of a doctor\u2019s prescription and it is considered a medical necessity&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>The supplier of the bed is Medicare-enrolled.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Medicare.gov suggests that \u201cDoctors and suppliers have to meet strict standards to enroll and stay enrolled in Medicare. If your doctors or suppliers aren&#8217;t enrolled, Medicare won\u2019t pay the claims submitted by them.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the <a href=\"http:\/\/madisonmedicalrental.com\">rental or purchase of your hospital bed<\/a> is approved for Medicare coverage, Medicare will cover 80% of the cost while you pay 20% of the Medicare approved amount of the hospital bed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Medicare will however not pay its share until you pay your Part B deductible. As at now, the Part B deductible for Medicare is an annual fee of $203.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under current Medicare rules, the bed will officially become yours after 13 months of rentals. Factors that determine the specific cost of your hospital bed are:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Your location&nbsp;<\/li><li>The other insurance you have&nbsp;<\/li><li>Your doctor\u2019s charge&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Medicare competitive bidding program<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com\/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSmApAj4u62UggMFxzcHTnbiNd_tZ4aIkN6Fw&amp;usqp=CAU\" alt=\"Smart medical beds in patient-care environments of the twenty-first  century: a state-of-art survey | BMC Medical Informatics and Decision  Making | Full Text\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a scheme organized for Medicare-enrolled DME suppliers to submit bids for provision of durable medical equipment to eligible recipients residing or visiting competitive bidding areas.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Does Medicare pay for hospital stays?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coverage for inpatient treatment and care is handled under Medicare Part A. This also includes hospice care, limited home health services, and skilled nursing care. Medicare Part A coverage includes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Meals&nbsp;<\/li><li>Semi-private rooms&nbsp;<\/li><li>Inpatient treatment drugs&nbsp;<\/li><li>General nursing&nbsp;<\/li><li>Other hospital services and supplies&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Things like personal care items, private-duty nursing, phone and television services, are not included in Medicare Part A.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is however important to state that Medicare will not pay its share of a hospital stay until you pay your Medicare Part A deductible which is $1484 as at 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Medicare will only cover the cost of a hospital bed rental or purchase if it is tagged a medical necessity and prescribed by a physician or doctor.
